Preparing for Interview Questions
It is crucial to present a positive interview impression if you are to land a job offer. Many job seekers get their foot in the door with an effective resume but fail in their verbal efforts to persuade an employer that they are the best candidate for the job. Prior to an interview, you must identify potential questions and practice your answers. Begin by drafting a list of questions and craft bullet points that not only answer the questions but demonstrate your credentials for the job. Practice your answers again and again until you are comfortable with your responses. Ask a trusted friend, colleague, or relative to help simulate an interview scenario. Use a video camera or tape recorder and have your designated interviewer ask the questions and you provide the answers. Play the tape back and note how you can improve. Practice again and again until you are comfortable with your responses. Many applicants find the following questions difficult to answer: 1. Tell me about yourself. Has an interviewer asked you a question that was tough to answer? If so, send it to me at Shresumes@aol.com and I'll suggest responses in a future issue. |
