Managing the Job Search While Still Employed

by Robbie Miller Kaplan

How do you handle the job search while you're still working? It might be a
comfort to know that the majority of people who find new jobs do so while
employed. Your resume, cover letters, and research can all be done after
hours. Develop a plan of how you will allocate and budget your time. Use
the Internet and your public library to locate job leads and research
organizations and companies over the week-end and during evening hours.
Use electronic mail to contact employers and make telephone calls during
your lunch hour and before/after work. Take advantage of every
professional and social occasion to network. If this doesn't work, schedule
some vacation time for calls and interviews.
